Episode 11: Francesca Moody

6 May 2021

Chris sits down for a chat with producer Francesca Moody. Though Francesca’s career began working with Paines Plough, it took off when she produced the critically-acclaimed hit Fleabag starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She then went on to set up Francesca Moody Productions, which produced Baby Reindeer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. The show transferred to London and won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre last year.

Topics include: the highs and lows of lockdown and how Francesca has kept busy; lessons learned from producing during a pandemic; Francesca’s journey to becoming a producer; producing versus acting; knowing Fleabag was something special and the hectic journey to get it on the stage; working with Plaines Plough and championing new writing; winning an Olivier on Zoom; producing in the not-for-profit sector versus the commercial sector; Francesca’s thoughts about the future of the Edinburgh Fringe; advice for early-career producers; optimism for the future as we slowly come out of lockdown.
