We're thrilled to announce casting for our autumn production Good Canary directed by Academy Award winner John Malkovich.
Joining the cast are Freya Mavor, Michael Simkins and Sally Rogers.
Freya Mavor plays lead role Annie. Freya broke through in 2011 with her feisty role in E4 drama Skins - for which she was nominated for Best Actress at the TV Choice Awards 2012. Other TV credits The White Queen (BBC One) and historical miniseries New Worlds (Channel 4). Film credits include La Dame Dans L'auto Avec Des Lunettes Et Un Fusil (Long listed for a Cesar award), Not Another Happy Ending and Sunshine on Leith.
Freya was nominated for Best Actress category at the Scottish BAFTAs and named as one of Screen International's ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ in 2013.
Michael Simkins plays Stuart. A familiar face in the West End, on TV and radio, Simkins has appeared in Foyle's War, Eastenders and in countless West End theatre productions including Mamma Mia! and Chicago. Other West End credits include A View from the Bridge, Richard III, Donkey's Years, and Burn This with John Malkovitch. Film credits include Topsy-Turvy, V For Vendetta and The Iron Lady. He is a regular voice on BBC Radio 4 programmes such as Today and Front Row and writes for the Guardian and The Daily Telegraph.
Sally Rogers plays Sylvia. Best known for her role as DC Jo Masters in The Bill, Rogers appeared on a number of TV series including BBC's Out of Hours, Murphy's Law with James Nesbitt and Casualty. She also worked with Matt Lucas and David Walliams on numerous projects including Little Britain.
Theatre credits include Hangmen (Royal Court/West End); The People are Friendly, Uganda and Killing the Cat (Royal Court); Children’s Children (Almeida), The Duchess of Malfi, Billy Liar, Murmuring Judges, Arturo UI and Black Snow (National Theatre).
