Stars of the stage and screen were out in force last night for the Press Performance of Good Canary.
Some of the big names in attendance included Julie Walters, Jane Asher, Julian Sands, Christopher Hampton, Samantha Bond and Richard E Grant. The roll call of household names was such that Dominic Cavendish, Theatre Critic for The Telegraph, even tweeted that 'Kingston had a touch of the oscars'.
The production, directed by John Malkovich and written by Zach Helm, has been eagerly awaited after being first announced at the beginning of 2016. The play tells the story of a troubled couple, played by Harry Lloyd (Marcella, Game of Thrones) and Freya Mavor (Skins, The White Queen), living in New York and explores the spiral of self-destruction and the cost of creativity.
