#HereforCulture

31 March 2022

Today’s announcement regarding Emergency Resource Support from DCMS and Arts Council England is fantastic news.  We are absolutely delighted to be included as one of the recipients benefiting from the latest round of awards.

Culture creates jobs, supports livelihoods, and brings joy to everyone. The UK leads the world in the creative industries and we can all feel pride in that.

Now, in these challenging times, it’s everybody’s turn to show our support for culture. With an unprecedented investment through the Culture Recovery Fund, the government is #HereForCulture so it can continue to weather the storm of coronavirus and come back stronger. And we are #HereForCulture too.

#HereForCulture is a movement that unites the public, government and cultural organisations in support of our fantastic cinemas, theatres, music venues, museums, galleries and heritage. By being #HereForCulture, we aren’t just supporting the people in the industry, we’re also supporting communities across the country.

Quote from Robert O’Dowd, Chief Executive:

'This grant is vital to our continuing operations and is crucial to our putting on Rose Original shows with our producing partners. Bringing back homegrown drama has enabled us to recapture audiences and support the brilliant creative and freelance teams who work alongside our staff to deliver inspiring and entertaining work. All of us at the Rose greatly appreciate this award from the Culture Recovery Fund: Emergency Resource Support Fund.'

Quote from Angellica Bell, Board member, Kingston Theatre Trust:

'As a Board member of Kingston Theatre Trust, I know how hard our team has worked to sustain the theatre during the pandemic. The Rose enjoys a reputation as both a well-respected producing house and a vibrant community arts hub for Kingston and South West London. We are committed to welcoming new, diverse audience members to the theatre, and this grant helps us to create work that will entice both first time and returning theatregoers to visit the Rose.'
