New season announced

Fri 19 May

We are thrilled to announce our new season kicking off with stage and screen star Laurence Fox, starring in Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing. Stoppard's witty comedy about love and deception opens on Mon 2 Oct, this will be the first time the Rose presents work by this extraordinary playwright. Not to be missed!

The season continues with Sam Holcroft's Rules for Living. This ‘hilarious Ayckbourn-style family comedy’ (The Guardian) set on Christmas day explores the strains on relationships which come with the festive period.

Moving into 2018, we see a classic tale brought to the stage with Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, starring Phil Daniels as the eponymous character. In March we are very excited to welcome renowned director Lindsay Posner to the Rose for the first time with Stephen Bill's award-winning play, Curtains. As Ida's family gathers to celebrate her 86th birthday, old rivalries come to the surface in this hilariously dark comedy.

Other highlights include Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days, Northern Broadsides with their new
adaptation of Lesage’s Turcaret, For Love or Money, and Brian Clemens' thriller Strictly Murder.

Alongside our drama season we will be will be presenting a wide range of top class comedy, music and family entertainment including an adaptation of best-selling book The Night Pirates, promising lots of swashbuckling fun, our festive extravaganza, Alice in Winterland, and Roald Dahl's classic George's Marvellous Medicine.
