We are shocked and saddened by recent events in Manchester and our thoughts are with everyone affected. As a venue, we are in constant dialogue with the police and like other theatres we are taking advice from Counter Terrorism Officers on our security arrangements.
Kingston is a very safe borough and as a venue safety is always our priority. However the independent Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) has raised the threat level for international terrorism in the UK to CRITICAL. As a result of this, security measures in our venue will be increased and bags will be searched on entry (please note that management may refuse entry to anyone unwilling to have their bag checked).
It will take longer to get everyone into the venue so please allow extra time to get into the theatre.
Terrorists use hostile reconnaissance in attack planning. By far the greatest asset and tactic we have is our staff who will deliver a high level of quality of service by speaking to visitors and challenging those displaying unusual behaviour.
As an audience member you can help by remaining calm but alert. If you see anything that causes you concern or if you have suspicions about someone's behaviour, call the police on 999 or the Anti terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.
Please remain vigilant and do report anything suspicious to our staff or to the police.
