Service of Thanksgiving for Sir Peter Hall at Westminster Abbey

Mon 05 Mar

The life and work of our founding Artistic Director Sir Peter Hall CBE will be commemorated in a special thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey on Tue 11 Sep 2018 at 12pm, a year after his death.

Sir Peter Hall, who has been described as 'the undoubted architect of the entire edifice of modern theatre', died aged 86 on 11 Sep 2017. He was not only the driving force behind Rose Theatre Kingston but directed the English language premiere of Waiting for Godot, founded the Royal Shakespeare Company, became the first Director of the National Theatre on the South Bank and directed dozens of productions in the West End and Broadway.

The service of thanksgiving will include specially chosen music, lessons, readings and tributes given by those who knew Sir Peter Hall.
