Rose Players is our introductory acting group open for anyone aged over 18. We welcome actors of all ages and experience to take part in classes that focus on professional-process and technique.
Perhaps you’ve never acted before, or perhaps you are returning to it. All you need is enthusiasm and to be able to commit to the classes over the course of the term. We explore major practitioners, methods of working on different styles of text, improvisation and vocal techniques that are applicable to many different areas of life.
The course is directed by Anthony Hoskyns, an actor and director who has just gained an MFA in Directing from Birkbeck University London. He has been directing for us at the Rose for 6 years and has spent a year as the resident director at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. When appropriate, guest directors may also work with you on specialist skills.
Whether you are thinking about professional training or you're an enthusiastic amateur, this is a great way to spend your Monday evenings.

All our classes comply with government safety guidelines regarding corona virus and a risk assessment has been carried out for all rehearsal rooms. Our groups are kept small and social distancing will be required at all times. The building is kitted out with a number of sanitizing stations and plenty of hand washing facilities. Temperature checks are in operation for all staff, students and general public entering the building. Our rehearsal rooms are cleaned regularly to a high standard. All our staff are trained on safety measures and will plan classes with social distancing in mind. Face coverings are optional and your director may wear a protective visor.
