Layla Madanat is a theatre-maker, documentary artist and social impact practitioner born and raised in Kingston Upon Thames. Driven by a mission to platform overlooked stories and shift storytelling cultures in the UK, Layla uses her work to ask radical questions about ourselves and the societies we live in. She hopes to continue to create live relationships between artistic projects and social justice causes.
Layla was most recently Assistant to the Artistic Director on Good Chance's "The Walk", and her last XR documentary project mosaic was featured at Sheffield Doc Fest and the BFI London Film Festival in 2021. She was shortlisted in 2021 for the inaugural Evening Standard Future Theatre Fund in the Directing/Theatre-Making Category, and has been selected for training cohorts with Paines Plough, The Orange Tree, Shubbak Festival and Sour Lemons.
Layla is the recipient of Rose Theatre's 2021 Peter Hall Emerging Artists Fellowship.
