Trusts and Foundations

Our mission is to entertain audiences, elevate artists, and empower our community. The Rose is not a National Portfolio Organisation, with less than 5% of our income coming from statutory sources so support is vital for us to continue our work.

There are several areas of the theatre’s strategy which currently attract Trust and Foundations support, including:

Free and subsidised tickets for school-aged children

Our community, which includes one of the most deprived neighbourhoods in England, has been affected by the cost-of-living crisis with many local people no longer able to afford to attend live theatre. This year we hope to be able to provide 3,000 subsidised (free) tickets to local schools in need of support, with further support when they return to the classroom with tailored educational resources.

Working with young people

Aimed at reaching young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, our multi-strand outreach strategy works with participants to explore all aspects of the theatre, gaining valuable experience as they work as a team and embark on a creative journey together.

Making our work accessible

Our Access programme ensures that everyone -- regardless of their level of needs -- can experience live theatre and take part at the Rose. We need to raise funds to pay for 30 adapted shows and subsidise 1,700 access and free carer tickets annually. With your support we can ensure that disability is never a reason to miss out.

Artistic programming

Our audiences and artists are at the heart of every aspect of our work, and our creative strategy demonstrates our commitment in championing artistic excellence and producing work that is reflective of the communities we serve. We are dedicated to supporting artists, and through the Peter Hall Emerging Artist Fellowship and our partnership with the Royal Theatrical Support Trust, we nurture, champion and celebrate the most exciting new theatre makers.
