Secondary Workshops
At Rose Participate, we believe theatre, stories, culture, and the spoken word should be experienced - not just studied. That’s why everything we do puts students and young people at the centre. Our secondary workshops are hands-on, creative, and built around areas that will support your students learning. Whether you’re exploring a script, creating something new, or just curious to try something different with your students, we make learning about theatre engaging, exciting and comprehendible.
Workshops available to book
Devising
This workshop is designed to help your students master the art of devising through our clear, step-by-step creative process. Students will explore how to generate original ideas, develop meaningful themes, and shape their work into a cohesive and engaging performance. Through practical exercises and guided collaboration, they will build confidence in creating, refining, and evaluating their own material.
The workshop is particularly valuable for students preparing for GCSE and A Level Drama examinations. We focus on the skills required for successful devising components, including responding to stimuli, documenting the creative process, developing character and structure, and meeting assessment objectives.
Shakespeare (using a text of your choice)
This engaging workshop helps students unlock the power of Shakespeare’s language through voice, character exploration, and performance. Designed to make the text accessible and relevant, the session breaks down complex language and builds confidence in delivering it with clarity and intention.
Through practical voice work and interactive exercises, students explore projection, pace, and articulation while developing strong character choices and stage presence. Ideal Key stage 3, GCSE and A Level students, the workshop supports key assessment objectives in both performance and written exams.
By the end of the session, students will feel more confident, connected, and ready to bring Shakespeare to life.
Page to Stage
This workshop is designed to bring set texts to life. Sharpen your student's performance skills for exam success or explore how a production comes together from start to finish, including design and technical elements.
Theatre Practitioners
Explore the Greats – from Stanislavski to Brecht we have the workshop for you. This workshop will help your students apply practitioner techniques with confidence and give practical tools for performance and written exams.
A Christmas Carol storytelling workshop - in collaboration with Flying Pickle Performing Arts
This workshop kicks off with a thrilling 10-minute taster performance from Flying Pickle’s dynamic solo show, A Christmas Carol. Students will then explore how to bring Dickens' iconic figures to life through voice, movement, and imagination.
The Boy at the Back of the Class
This workshop will analyse the stage production of The Boy at the Back of the Class with a strong focus on critical evaluation. Students will explore the overall staging of the piece, considering how performance and production elements such as blocking, proxemics, levels, use of space, set, lighting, sound, costume, and ensemble work are used to create meaning. The workshop will also involve detailed analysis of key scenes, examining how specific directorial and staging choices communicate character, themes, and mood, and how these choices affect the audience’s understanding and emotional response. Through structured discussion and practical exploration, students will develop the skills required to analyse and evaluate live theatre, in line with Drama assessment objectives.

Our Town
Our interactive workshop introduces students to one of the most influential works in modern American theatre, Our Town by Thornton Wilder.
Designed to support Drama and English study, this practical session moves students beyond reading the text and into active performance. Through structured exercises and guided scene work, students explore:
• Modernist theatre techniques
• Minimalist and non-naturalistic staging
• Breaking the fourth wall and direct address
• Character interpretation and vocal/physical skills
• Ensemble collaboration and communication
Ideal as preparation for scripted performance components, devised work inspiration, or revision support.

Technical Theatre
From Concept to Cue – Explore the art of theatre design and the roles and skills involved in technical theatre.
Theatre Tours
Theatre tours are available to support a careers event or for enrichment. These sessions offer a look behind the scenes of a working theatre and the careers available in the arts. After a tour, students will be able to look at some of the costumes and props used in our productions – and maybe try on a few! We’ll also have model boxes and original production designs available, to show how a production concept moves from the page to the stage.
