Primary Workshops
At the heart of Rose Participate’s ethos is a commitment to engage young people with theatre, literature, culture and the spoken work. Each workshop is tailored to the age of your students and designed capture the imagination in a practical, fun session.

Back to the Stone Age
Travel back in time and discover the world of the stone age! In this fun and interactive session, we use games, songs and movement to explore the sights and sounds of Skara Brae. Students will form their own tribe of hunter gatherers, use teamwork to reimagine prehistoric animals and create their own cave drawings.
Introduction to Shakespeare
In this practical workshop, our experienced facilitators will bring to life the characters and themes of a classic Shakespeare play. Student’s will develop their understanding of the text through games and exercises, bringing clarity to Shakespeare’s language. This workshop can be applied to any Shakespeare play.
The Fire of London
Revisit the sight of one of London’s infamous events! Using imagination and role play, students will go back to the night of 2nd September 1666. Through games and movement exercises, we will examine how the fire started and why it spread through the capital. Under the guidance of Charles II and Christopher Wren, the group will use their artistic skills to rebuild the city. All observed and diarised by Samuel Pepys.
Fantastic Fairytales
In this workshop, we explore how to use storytelling skills to bring classic fairy tales to life. Students will learn how to break down stories into key elements such as character, setting, plot, conflict, and theme. Through interactive activities and creative exercises, participants will discover how to build engaging narratives, develop memorable characters, and add their own unique twist to timeless tales. By the end of the session, students will have the tools and confidence to transform a traditional fairy tale into a vivid and captivating story of their own.
WWII evacuees
This is a practical session based on real life testimonies of civilian children during World War II. Students will explore what life was like during the war, using costumes, props and music from the time. By the end of the workshop each young participant will have created a short monologue, scene or poem from the perspective of an evacuee.
The Boy at the Back of the Class
In this exciting and interactive workshop, students will explore the themes and characters of The Boy at the Back of the Class through drama and movement exercises. Together, we will examine how ideas of isolation and friendship can be expressed through intention, physical movement, and storytelling.

A Christmas Carol storytelling workshop - in collaboration with Flying Pickle Performing Arts*
This workshop kicks off with a thrilling 10-minute taster performance from Flying Pickle’s dynamic solo show, A Christmas Carol. Students will then explore how to bring Dickens' iconic figures to life through voice, movement, and imagination.
